tooth Extraction in Fort Myers

What Is The Procedure For Tooth Extractions?

We perform extractions to preserve your oral health and remove problematic teeth. If you have advanced gum disease or impacted wisdom teeth, extraction may be necessary. You can trust that we conduct extractions in our office with the highest level of care, prioritizing your safety, comfort, and convenience.

Why do we need tooth extractions?

Extractions are usually the final option to save a tooth. Removing certain teeth can hurt your oral health, so it is recommended to remove them before they cause issues such as shifting, infection, or damage in the mouth. There are several reasons why you may need or want an extraction, including:

Wisdom teeth affected

Badly damaged teeth

Cracked or broken teeth beneath the gum line

Baby teeth that are difficult to remove

You want to avoid getting more treatment

What Individuals Are Eligible For Tooth Extractions?

To determine if an extraction is necessary, we will conduct an examination. It is typically advised for patients needing an extraction to proceed with the procedure. If a problematic tooth is left untreated, it can potentially result in future complications like infections and abscesses. Additionally, x-rays will be taken to assist in accurately assessing the need for an extraction.

During tooth extraction, what happens?

We provide the choice of either anesthetic or sedation based on your preference. During your consultation, we can discuss the various sedation options that are available. Once you feel comfortable, we will proceed with the process of loosening and extracting the tooth. If needed, we may also use sutures to close the gums. To manage any bleeding, we will ask you to bite down on gauze. If you have been sedated, we will take you to a recovery room until you are fully awake. In case general sedation was administered, it is crucial that you have a friend or relative accompany you home. Lastly, we will provide you with important aftercare instructions that must be followed.
